Greetings

President,
Marywood University
Welcome to the Marywood University web site!
The Marywood University community is a vibrant
one, with academic, continuing education, cultural,
athletic, and student life events and opportunities
-- the sum of which defines the total experience of
Marywood as the place where learning becomes
leading.
We are not just another university. In fact,
Marywood meets a range of educational needs through
the life cycle in a setting that fosters and
encourages diverse, compassionate leadership.
Our four colleges include:
- The College of Liberal Arts and
Sciences
- The College of Health and Human
Development
- The College of Creative Arts and
Management
- The College of Education and Human
Development
Each of these colleges represents the range of
strengths, excellent academic and professional
preparation, and the respected reputation that
Marywood has built since its founding in 1915 by
the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the
Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Here are some things you should know about
us:
- Marywood University has been ranked among the best
Tier I schools in the North in US News and World Report’s America’s
Best Colleges for several years.
- Marywood is the leading provider of graduate
education in Northeastern Pennsylvania, and we
offer three terminal degrees -- Ph.D. in
Human Development, Psy.D., and M.F.A. in Studio
Art -- that are not available elsewhere in
Northeast Pennsylvania.
- Recent curricular additions include an Educational Specialist in School Psychology degree (Ed.S.), an M.A. in Professional Studies, and an M.S. in Biotechnology.
- Marywood is now ranked in the top three
nationwide among all Division III schools with a
95 percent graduation rate for its student
athletes.
- In recent years, Marywood has built
several new buildings -- the Keith J. O’Neill
Center for Healthy Families, the Michael and
Dolores Insalaco Center for Studio Arts, the
Tony Domiano Center for Early Childhood
Education, and the
Robert J. Mellow Center for Athleics and Wellness -- and performed numerous
renovations on existing campus facilities, including the conversion of an existing building into a new student residence -- Loughran Hall. Our
endeavors, part of a comprehensive Campus Master
Plan, have significantly transformed the campus,
while strengthening and broadening the scope of
programs the University offers. Future expansion
plans include a Center for Athletics and
Wellness and a Center for Spiritual Life.
- Our alumni, over 22,000 strong, have gone on
to distinguish themselves in profound ways
throughout all walks of life -- education,
medicine, business, the arts, psychology, human
service endeavors, health services, the legal
profession, and social sciences.
As you browse through our site, I, along with
the faculty, administration, staff, and students of
the University, invite you to learn even more about
Marywood and about the ways in which the University
can assist you in meeting your specific academic
and personal goals.
Sincerely,

Sister Mary Reap, IHM, PH.D.
