Marywood University Library Mission Statement
Realizing its fundamental role in the teaching,
learning, and research process, the Marywood University library
staff foster a welcoming and supportive online and physical
presence within the community. The integration of information
resources, instructional services and technology in tandem with
the expertise of library faculty and staff provide an environment
that encourages scholarship by promoting intellectual curiosity
and critical thinking. The library is committed to the University's
effort to help individuals reach their potential, engage in
lifelong learning, and emerge as responsible leaders.

Collection
Marywood Library holds 216,191 volumes, 338,191
items on microforms, 43,342 media items, 969 active periodical
subscriptions in print and microfilm format plus over 9,000
full-text electronic journal titles. The Learning Resources
Center houses the Library, Computer Training & User Support,
Instructional Technology Services, and the Radio & Television
Studios.
Marywood Library is classified by the Dewey Decimal
scheme. Library books, media materials are shelved as follows:
1st floor: 900s, fiction, periodicals, microforms and art
prints
2nd floor: Reference, 300s, music media and best sellers
3rd floor: Oversized, 001-299 and 400-899, juvenile collection
All floors: Non-music media items shelved with books on
all floors

Library Borrowing Privilege
Are you looking for a book the Marywood Library
does not own? One option is reciprocal borrowing.The reciprocal
borrowing allows Marywood students, faculty, and staff to borrow
books directly from the following institutions: College Misericordia,
Keystone College, King's College, Lackawanna County Library
System, Luzerne County Community College, Penn StateWorthington
Scranton Campus, University of Scranton, and Wilkes University.
The Northeastern Pennsylvania Library Network (NPLN) online
catalog provides access to the collections of most of those
libraries.
